Current:

I am a stay-at-home mother of one-and-three-quarters daughters at the time of this writing. Around Christmastime I should be the proud mother of two!

Areas of Expertise:

 The Official List:

I have been a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Washington, Oregon, and California; inside and field sales for a veterinary pharmaceutical distributor and a computer distributor; and before kids I spent nine years as a Program Manager, managing projects at a hi-tech company for a single multi-million dollar customer.  The degrees I hold are an AAS in Veterinary Technology and a BS in Business Management, and just for fun a few years ago I obtained my certification in Scientific Illustration.

The  Fun List:

I’m currently studying parenting and early child education, focusing on educational options that will best suit my daughter’s  personality and interests; practicing sewing and designing clothing, focusing on couture techniques;  and applying fundamental cooking principles,  focusing on the chemistry and physics of  homemade ice cream (this probably started because I’m really, really pregnant and my favorite ice cream was discontinued...have to get it somewhere so it looks like I’m making it myself!)

The above are my current learning projects. Throughout my lifetime I have also achieved a certain degree of facility in vocal and instrumental performance, playing and writing music, fine art and illustration, and interior design and remodeling.

Personal Drivers:

By personal drivers I am not referring to chauffeurs…I AM the chauffer.  And nurse, chef, handywoman, teacher…like many moms, I just have to handle whatever comes up!

My psyche drives me to research and learn new things, especially HOW to do things I have never done before.  Once I master something I either pursue a different aspect of it or move on to something new.  Not having a learning project in work frustrates me, and my dear husband has learned the signs well enough to ask me what I’ve learned lately when I get cranky.  I do like to discuss what I’ve learned because I can teach it to others and I often pick up a missing link from these discussions.  HubPages seems the perfect forum for me to learn and teach while respecting my kids’ schedules.

Writing interests:

Occasionally I will publicly express a strongly heartfelt opinion about an issue in the public arena, especially if I believe the media is overlooking a significant relevant argument, but I’m generally a fairly private person when it comes to controversial topics. Most often you will find me writing about something I’ve learned to do recently. As the Fun List changes, so will my posts.

Personal HubPages Mission Statement:

To enhance my sense of connectedness to the world and provide helpful information to others who share my interests while improving my personal skills with their feedback. And if I make a couple bucks while I’m at it, well, that’s always good.
